Literature and Modern China 《文學與現代中國》(LMC) is an open-access, international, peer-reviewed journal devoted to all aspects of Chinese literature and literary culture from roughly 1840 to contemporary times. Its mission is to serve as a bridge between the Chinese-speaking and English-speaking worlds of Chinese literature and literary study. It is sponsored and supported by Sichuan University’s College of Literature and Journalism. Printing and publishing services are provided by Igneus Press.

The journal focuses on Chinese literature and culture of the modern and contemporary periods. It is open to all academic approaches to theese topics—including history, criticism, literary theory, translation studies, etc.—and all theoretical perspectives. We welcome work from scholars, critics, translators, graduate students, authors, and all other knowledgeable individuals. Open Access Policy

LMC is committed to providing quality content free of charge to all readers. All journal content is published on our website under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license that permits the use and distribution of that content provided that the author(s) and LMC are properly credited. The online version of the journal is published simultaneously with the release of its print version. There are no embargo periods or membership requirements to view its content.

 

Licensing and Copyright

Authors retain copyright without restrictions to any material they publish in LMC. By publishing in LMC, they grant it an irrevocable, non-exclusive right to reproduce, republish, transmit, sell, distribute, and otherwise use their work in electronic and print editions of the Journal and in derivative works throughout the world, in all languages, and in all media now known or later developed; to create and store electronic archival copies of their work, including the right to deposit their work in open access digital repositories; and to license others to reproduce, republish, transmit, and distribute their work under the condition that the author(s) are attributed (under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license).

 

Peer Review and Plagiarism Prevention

To ensure the quality the content we publish, LMC uses a double-blind peer review process in which every article under consideration for publication is reviewed by two reviewers. Neither the reviewers nor the author(s) are allowed to learn one another’s identity.  Additionally, in order to avoid publishing plagiarized work, LMC uses Crossref’s Similarity Check service on all manuscripts prior to sending them for peer review.

 

Privacy Policy

All personal information collected by LMC will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

 

Author Fees

Neither LMC nor any of its affiliates charge authors any fees for the submission, editing, and publication of their work in LMC. Should anyone claiming to represent or be connected to LMC in any way attempt to do so, please inform the editor-in-chief immediately.
